The Palmetto Chapter of Sisters in Crime is based in Columbia, South Carolina. Like our parent organization, we are authors, readers, publishers, agents, booksellers, and librarians bound by our affection for the mystery genre and our support of women and men who write mysteries. *On November 21, 2020, the speaker was multi-series and award-winning author Edith Maxwell/Maddie Day.

*On September 19, 2020, Yasmin McClinton, a resident of Columbia, S.C., and this year's winner of Sisters in Crime's annual Eleanor Taylor Bland Crime Fiction Writers of Color Award, spoke about her writing journey.

*On Saturday, May 16, 2020, at 1 pm, award winning authors Sasscer Hill and Raegan Teller discussed their recently published books. They also talked about adjusting to changes in publishing and the marketplace during a pandemic. Raegan described how her experience as a personal and an executive coach has helped her assess her long-term writing goals during a time of uncertainty. Sasscer told about various publishing and marketing resources she discovered. Both authors shared “trailers” created for their books by Candace Carter (for Sasscer) and Catherine Blake (for Raegan).

*On February 15, 2020 the meeting featured Savannah J. Frierson, Harvard graduate, USA Today best selling romance author, and expert professional editor. Savannah spoke about the parallels in crafting romance and mysteries as well as about her own journey to publication. Savannah's website is here: http://www.sjfbooks.com/about/

*On January 18, 2020 the meeting featured LORI RADER-DAY, the Edgar Award-nominated and Anthony Award and Mary Higgins Clark Award-winning author of The Lucky One, Under a Dark Sky, The Day I Died, Little Pretty Things, and The Black Hour. Lori’s short fiction has appeared in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, Time Out Chicago, Good Housekeeping, and others. Co-chair of the mystery reader conference Murder and Mayhem in Chicago and serving as the national president of Sisters in Crime, Lori updated the group on news from national and from her own work.
